National Park Lal Sohanra

Lal Suhanra is a town by the Bahawalpur road to Khairpur about 30 km from Bahawwalpur. Park is very interesting for the nature lovers and provides natural habitat to rare Chankara Gazelle. Lal sohanra is one of the largest national parks in south Asia which covers which was established in 1972. A number of wildlife diversity flourishes within the natural environment of park. Punjab Govt. has plan to upgrade Lal sohanra national park into wildlife safari park of international standard.

Geographic location:

Park situated in South Punjab 35 km east of Bahawalpur city ad covers both banks of Desert branch canal. It has total area about 127,500 acre in South Punjab. Lal Sohanra mostly consists in desert land. Only 20975 acre is green land and large water reservoir of about 4780 acre in the form of ponds and lakes.

Wildlife at Lal Sohanra:

A Number of species of animal can be foud in Nationa park. Wild animal like wildcats, rabbits, bustards and deers spacially black bucks. Indian Rahinoes also grow in natural envoirnment. Moniter lizard, Russells viper, Indian cobra, saw scaled viper, wolf snake, sand bow, Spiny tailed lizard are also present in the park.

More then160 species of birds are also present which includes houbara bustard, peacock, crested honey buzzard, marsh harrier, hen harrier, lagger falconperegrine falcon, Egyption ulture, wheatear and barn owl. A large lake in the middle of park is ideal for birds. There is 10,000 to 30,000 ducks permenently liing in the lakes. This park is provide natural habitates for many threatened spicies of animals like Nilgai antilop, Black buck, Hog deer and Indian Rhinoceros.

Flora:

Lal sohanra national park is located at altitude of 125 to 140 meter from sea level. Flora of lalsohanra is consists of 212 species belonging to 50 families. Dicot having 158 species and 41 families. Mot dominent group of plants in the park followed by monocots with 5 families and 50 species. Pteridophytes with three families.

Attrection:

Now the Punjb Govt. pans to improve the national park to a wildlife Safari park. One of its most attraction is lion safari which allows visitors to watch these beasts in their natural habitat.

There are watch towers, catching ground, tourist huts, camping gounds, tracks, motels and rest houses. TDCP owns and oprates a motel with six double rooms near the park.

Mushkpuri Top a Marvelous Peek In Nathiagali

Mushkpuri Top is also one of such God gifted point In Nathiagali of District Abbotabad.

It is the Second highest point in the area. It is approximately 2800 meter high from sea level. It started from the Nathiagali and naturally it is covered with lush green landscaping and pine forests of Ayubia National park in spring and summer season and with a thick layer of white snow in winter season.

Nathiagali to Mushkpuri Top Track:

There are two tracks to reach mushkpuri peek one is from Nathiagali and other from Dungagali. Nathiagali track is started from Shangrila hotel in Nathiagali. Tracks total length is about 4 Km.
Whole track is naturally stuffed with lush greenery.
Horses are also available to reach on the peek. Green landscaping and beauty of forest surrounding the track is exemplary. Whole the spiral way of track is very breathtaking and gives panoramic view of surroundings.    

Dungagali to Mushkpuri Top Track:

Dungagali to mushkpuri peek track is also about 4 km in length. Like the nathiagali this track is also covered with green conifer forests and natural grass. It’s one branch Leeds to the Salazar Park in Nathiagali. Land escaping and natural beauty of this track is imaginary. Green carpets, natural flowering beds and fragrance fresh air is very attractive for the hikers. Whole track beauty is supreb. Both tracks is full of picnic spots.

Water Pond:

There is a water pond at the top of mushkpori peek at 2800 meter from sea level. Which is formed with snow water. Which increases its natural beauty. Reflection of trees of surrounding hills and clouds in the sky creates a charming scene in ponds water. Its water is cool but not drinkable without filter. Because it is stagnant due to wild and Pet animal like horses etc.

Climate:

Climate of Nathiagali and its surrounding in summer is hot and harsh in winter. In monsoon temperature will be coming down. Almost daily rains. Haling and thunder storm will also occur monsoon seasons so be ewer about this. And in winter snow falls. Average temperature will rise up to 35 C^o in summer season.
