Lahore Fort currently
was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1566 AD is very famous historical point
Lahore. In 1981 it was declared as world heritage site by the UNISCO. This fort was originally built about 1000
years ago. It is very complicated in defense and illustration point for marble
work and interior beauty. Its palaces, gardens and other building have a great
charm to the visitors. It is a master piece of architecture of Mughal Emperor
Akbar.
Building of Mughal Emperor Akbar:
Currently founder of the Lahore fort was Great Mughal emperor
Akbar. He built this fort in1566 and completed within 14 years. He made its
only gate (masjadi gate) for military use to defend Lahore. And then transfer
its capital from Dahli to Lahore. And decorate fort with red sand stone in its
own style that is latterly called Akbari style. He decorated wall with animal
painting that show Akbar’s Policy for the non Muslim.
Enhancement by Emperor Jahangir:
Alam geri gate toward Badshahi masque is the prominent
building which is added by the emperor Auragzaib Alamger. He build this for
movement of royal family in royal palaces in the fort. Royal families riding on
the elephant go through this gate to enter in the fort. He has also emphasize
to improve the orchard and fountains in the royal palaces of Lahore fort.
Modification By shah Jahan:
Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan has made a number of modifications in his era.
He builds Sheesh Mahal for the empress and Nolakha and Moti Masjid for Royal
Ladies. All these building were in Iranian style and master piece of
architectural work. Their fresco works was amazing and have a great attraction
for the visitors.
He introduces the
Dewan-e-Aam that is used for General public audience this remarkable building
was also build by Shah Jahan in 1631. Here the emperor would make daily
appearance and received official visitors. Dewan-e- Khas designed
for the special guests and private audience. These quadrangle elegant and
finish with white marble building is used to receiving special guests.
Fresco Work:
All Mughal Emperor were fond of fresco work.
As their building represent this. A number
of buildings in Lahore fort were splendid by Mughal fresco work. It is really
unique in design and attraction. Due to its fresco work and historical values
UNISCO declared this building as world heritage site in 1981.
