Saiful malook is a mountainous lake located at the northern end of the kaghhan valley near the town of Naran it is located in the north east of Mansehra District about 8 Km from north of Naran in the Provence Khyber Pakhtun khwa Pakistan and feed water of Kunhar river.

A fairy tale called Saiful malook written by Sufi poet Mian Muhammad Bukhsh talks of the lake. It tells the story of prince of Persia who fall I love with a fairy princess at the lake.

It is above 3224m from sea level is above the tree line and one of the highest lake in the Pakistan. This lake is easily accessible from the nearest town of Naran throughout the summer season. Saiful malook was formed by the glacial moraines that block the water of the stream passing through the valley.

The lake is rich with eco diversity and a large variety of blue green algae is found here. Large brown trout are found in the lake and about 26 species of vascular plant exist in the area. There is a large controversy about depth of lake Saiful Malook. In fact there is no authentic source to tell the exact depth of lake. According to local people its depth is about 1 km. ad some says it is about 1.7km deep. But according to the survey conducted on all alpine lakes of Northern area of Pakistan told that its depth is only 50 feet deep.

You can feel nice and comfortable to plan a hiking trip to Sri Paya from Shogran Makra hills and Malka Parbat peak. Malka perbet English means is “Queen of mountains” It is a quite difference experience the Dazzling green of Dana Meadows and slippery glaciers of the way of Naran. Summer is the best season to visit the Naran valley. Nara weather remains pleasant as temperature ranges between a max of 20⁰C to mini of 3⁰ C. unexpected thunderstorm and heavy rains keep environment cool. The valley is connected from Muzaffarabad by Neelum road which leads up to kel road condition from Muzaffarabad to Athmuqam are very good and suitable for any kind of transport. Track to K2 base camp Second highest Mountain Peak In the World.

This is the one of the greatest treks in the world, unbeatable in terms of close up mountain views and proximity to many of the world’s highest peaks. On this track you literally walk past three of the world’s giants and for two nights camp right below K2, the second highest of them all. However this is tough but rewarding track, with many days being spent on the rugged, tumbled glacier as you head up to and beyond “Concordia” where the Baltoro and Godwin Austen glaciers converge in a beauty and simplicity of ice and rock.

Hill Tricking

During day time temperatures will vary from 10^O C to 35⁰ C. And you can find it very hot at the start and end of the track, but cool to very cold higher up. Night time temperature are very cold about (-15⁰ C)and you should make sure you have a very warm sleeping bag. A down jacket and good quality mitts are highly recommended.

In Islamabad and Skerdu you will be enjoy good hotels in room with private facilities Twin double or single supplement applicable rooms are also available. In the mountain you will be in two person tents, toilet tents or long drop loos are provided at camps. Facilities of warm water also available. Country wide specific information and advice about health is published by the National Travel Health Network and centre.
More ever Tap or stream water should never be drunk with out first sterilizing with chlorine dioxide tablets or by boiling. An insurance which covers rescue evocation and medical expanses is essential. You should note there are no official mountain rescue service in Pakistan and that any evacuation I the event of serious medical emergency to the nearest hospital will be by land and not by helicopter. We will require a copy of your insurance prior to the departure. Please also insure your insurance cover you for walking above 4000m. Visas for entry into Pakistan are required by foreigners.
